Sauron will make a grand entrance to wreak havoc in The Rings of Power season 2, setting the tone for all the other stories in J.R.R. Tolkien's onscreen adaptations of The Lord of the Rings franchise. Viewers who missed out on catching the first season or simply want to rewatch it can stream the show for free on a Samsung device, the electronics giant said Thursday. Season 2 hits Prime Video on Aug. 29.
Samsung has partnered with Prime Video to make season 1 of Rings of Power available to stream on Samsung TV Plus, its FAST platform. From Aug. 15 through Aug. 28, you can watch the first installment without needing a streaming subscription. You will however, need a Samsung device with Samsung TV Plus compatibility. That includes Samsung smart TVs manufactured after 2016, or Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets equipped with Android 8.0 and above.
Viewers in the US will find the show on the app via The Rings of Power channel 1003, or channels 1200, 1201, 1204 and 1505, or you can stream it on-demand. If you're in Canada, tune in to channel 1003, and fans in the UK and Brazil can watch on-demand.
Set during the Second Age in Middle-earth, the prequel series shows the kingdoms of Númenor, Khazad-dûm and Lindon, and introduces elves, Harfoots and dwarves from the early aughts of Tolkien's books. We see the creation of the rings, and follow a young Galadriel as a warrior who knows an imminent darkness is near. Sauron, orcs, and uneasy relationship dynamics between elves, dwarves, humans and other beings up the stakes for season 2's epic fantasy drama.
